Hey Fam, Friends, and Doods!

Sometimes, when I listen to the stories of my students, it's like the air has been squeezed from the room. Caravans of emotions cause voices to quake as they recount tales of uncertainty, inequity, and oppression. It's hard to be a kid in the city, and if that kid happens to be black or brown, the challenges become insurmountable. Yet, despite these obstacles, there are moments of profound resilience and true joy. See above photo.

Peer Resources gives voice to the voiceless to navigate through a world that has become increasingly hateful and confused. Once students learn to be effective communicators and then the vocabulary and history to make sense of the madness they've inherited, they are charged with creating projects of change, personally and institutionally. This is a class like none other.

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but what a glorious choir you are. For me to continue doing the good work of guiding disenfranchised students to become empowered to create equity in an unbalanced world, I humbly ask your help. Your generosity two years ago raised $1500, and let's double that this time. I'll be posting on social media stories from the front line of my class from now until 12/24. Peer Resources is a community that unites to do big things together. This Peers Giving season, come together with us to raise funds that are crucial to ongoing services to engage, train, and support low-income youth of color with real and inspiring opportunities for their transformative leadership.

Every dollar helps, and anything you can give means another ally standing with youth who are fighting transphobia, resisting institutional racism, and making daily change towards a better world that we all need, adults and youth alike.

Your gift will support city-wide conferences for youth to see that they are not doing this hard work alone, that they are activated alongside hundreds of youth who are collectively pushing for change. Transformative Change Day, Youth Are Resources Conference, and Future Educators Conference bring together over 300 youth annually to build skills and community.
